Richard "Logan" Chapman Obituary

Richard “Logan” Chapman, 31, passed away Monday, February 26, 2024. Born February 28, 1992, to Kaye and Hall Chapman, Logan resided in Taylorsville and worked as a machine operator and lead laminator operator at Triumph Installation Systems for three years, in addition to starting a recycling program at the plant. A graduate of Alexander Central High School, Logan played centerfield on the Cougar baseball team and tailback and wide receiver for the football team. A dedicated uncle, Logan prided himself on unbounded support for his nephews, Mason and Sawyer, and his niece, Adaleene, in all of their academic, athletic and life pursuits. Logan delighted in throwing batting practice to his nieces and nephews, engaging in a spirited pickup basketball game at the Y, diving into a competitive dodgeball match, watching the girls’ basketball team he coached run a play to perfection or heading to Hickory for a TJ Maxx run. His winning smile and engaging wit launched all the meaningful friendships he treasured so deeply.

Logan leaves behind his beloved parents, Kaye and Hall; his sister, Meg Chapman, and his sister, Tashanna Chapman-Mays and her husband, Michael, and their children, the loves of Logan’s life, Mason, Sawyer and Adaleene; and sisters, Tiffany Chapman and Tonya Beam; in addition to his special cousins, “Jolie” Jenkins (his wife, April, and their children, Morgan, Madeleine, and Kendall), “Tonnie” Ledford (her husband, Scott, and their children, Tristan and Keni), and Jess Wike (her husband, Dave, and their children, Landon and Laney); his uncles, Wayne Jenkins (and family), Dale Jenkins and Jim Quesenberry; his cousin, Brian Jenkins; and his aunts, Anita Jenkins, Dixie Faulkenberry (her husband, Rusty) and Patsy Goforth (her husband, Donnie). Family members who preceded Logan in death include his maternal grandmother, Lois “Mom” Jenkins and paternal grandparents, Ned and Beulah Chapman; his aunt, Linda Robinson (and family); and his special uncle, Mack Jenkins.

Logan loved big and leaves behind so many cousins and friends and a legacy of unconditional, unwavering and nonjudgmental love to everyone he encountered from his family and friends to his cat, Milo, his dog, Otis, and even his fish.

Logan’s family will receive friends at Liledoun Baptist Church from 5-7 p.m. Saturday, March 2. Rev. Jason Payne and Rev. Taylor Miller will officiate the funeral Sunday, March 3, at 4 p.m. at Liledoun Baptist Church. Tyler Gilleland, Jake Gwaltney, Eston Hedrick, Alex Lackey, Devonta Lackey, Tristan Ledford and Landon Wike will serve as pallbearers during the funeral, along with honorary pallbearers: Kendall Jenkins, Elijah Peal, Tanner Moore and Will Hendren.
