Rodney Warren Obituary

        

                Rodney Allen Warren, age 76, of Taylorsville, passed away on Friday, August 30, 2024 at the V.A. Hospital of Asheville.

Rodney was born November 30, 1947 in Catawba County, the son of the late Dwight Hilluard Warren and Georgia Clara Warren.

                Rodney served in the United States Marine Corps during Vietnam. He was wounded in combat for which he received two Purple Hearts. He worked for the United States Postal Service for over 30 years. He also worked for the North Carolina Department of Corrections and the North Carolina Department of Transportation for five years.  He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church, where he had previously taught Sunday school. He enjoyed spending time with his family. He loved God, His church, and he carried a burden that our country would turn back to God.

                Those left to cherish and honor his memories include: his wife of 56 years Patsy Little Warren; his daughter, Faith Lucinda Phillips (Shane) of Taylorsville; his sons, Darren Dwight Warren (Rhonda) of Taylorsville, Joel Mack Warren (Janet) of Hiddenite; his grandchildren, Ethan Seth Warren, Lucinda Shea Phillips, Joshua Daniel Warren (Lexia), Michael Allen Phillips, Charity Grace Phillips, Mack Dwight Phillips, Meredith Clara Warren; his sisters, Kay Bumgarner (Pastor James) of Taylorsville, Joy McCain (Paul) of Crane Hill, Alabama; and his brother, Brent Warren (Monique) of Taylorsville.

                A funeral service will be held at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday, September 4, 2024 at Calvary Baptist Church. Pastor Stephen Dagenhart, Pastor Neal Walker and Pastor Taylor Miller will officiate. Burial will follow in the Liledoun Baptist Church Cemetery with full military honors accorded by the United States Marine Honor Guard.

                Those serving as Pallbearers include: Ethan Warren, Joshua Warren, Michael Phillips, Mack Phillips, Mark Bumgarner and Jermy Bumgarner. Honorary Pallbearers include: Creel Little, Randy Mitchell, Dennis Chapman, Terry Chapman, and James Bumgarner.

                The family will receive friends on Tuesday, September 3, 2024 at Calvary Baptist Church from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m.
