Sadly, our beloved Shirley McCrackin, age 85, of Taylorsville, passed away on Saturday, January 11, 2025, after a decline in health. She was at home surrounded by her loving family, who take comfort in knowing we will see her again in Heaven. She is in the arms of Jesus free from pain.
Shirley was born May 1, 1939, in Alexander County, the daughter of the late Lee Medlin and Ruby Teague Medlin.
She met her beloved husband of 63 years, Sylva “Mr. Mack” McCrackin in 1960 and they wed September 29, 1961. Shirley’s greatest joy and accomplishments was being a wife and mother. She taught them that they could accomplish anything through hard work, determination and persistence. She had a big personality and strong will. She had a big impact on everyone and was a kind and loving woman.
She was a faithful member of 55 years at Tabernacle Baptist Church in Stony Point. She loved her church, her church family, and sang in the choir. She was proud of how she memorized the songs.
Shirley was preceded in death by: her parents, Ruby and Lee Medlin; grandsons, Brandon Swink and Andrew Sturgill; granddaughter, Tonya Daniel; great-granddaughter, Savannah Green.
Those left to cherish and honor Shirley’s memories include: her husband, Sylva “Mr. Mack” McCrackin of the home; her daughters, Sherry Heaggans, Sharon Parsons (Patrick), Patsy Adkins (James), Jeannie Cook; brother, Glenn Carrigan; 11 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; brother-in-law, Burns McCrackin and sister-in-law, Lona Mae Jordan; and numerous broken-hearted nieces, nephews, and countless friends.
The funeral service will be held at 3 p.m., Sunday, January 19, 2025, at Tabernacle Baptist Church. Pastor Wes Hammer and Pastor Andrew Brown will officiate. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 2 p.m. until 3 p.m. prior to the service.
The family would like to express a special thanks to Medi-Health Hospice for their care. Till we meet again, we love you.
