Shirley Marie (Barnette) Tolbert

                Shirley Marie Barnette Tolbert, age 85, of Taylorsville, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 15, 2023 at her home. She was born March 10, 1938 in Alexander County, the daughter of the late Romilus Barnette and Vada Brown Barnette.

                Shirley was a procurement specialist for the U.S. Chamber of Commerce for 40 years. She enjoyed going to Washington Red Skins games. She loved her family, especially her grandchildren.

                Including her parents, she was preceded in death by: one sister; five brothers; and her great great-grandson Liam Johnson.

                Those left to cherish and honor her memory include: her husband of 66 years, Francis Tolbert; her son, Robert Tolbert (Theresa); her daughter, Katherine Tolbert; her grandchildren, David Johnson, Stacy Boyle, Kimberly Johnson, April Tolbert, Robin Weible (Adam), Robert Tolbert jr. (Leslee); 10 great-grandchildren; and 3 great great-grandchildren.
