Thomas Vick II Obituary

Mr. Thomas Alvin Vick II, 50, of Millers Creek passed away on May 3, 2026 at his home.

Thomas was born on May 22, 1975 in San Diego County, California to Thomas Alvin Vick and Gayle Elaine Haywood Vick.

He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army as a water treatment specialist and was deployed to Haiti in 2010 as part of humanitarian relief efforts, as well as Iraq in 2011. Following his service, he continued pursuing his lifelong passion for history and the natural world, earning a master’s degree in Archaeology from Appalachian State University.

Tommy cared deeply about the world around him and the people within it. He was known for his willingness to help others, his strong sense of responsibility, and his determination to leave places better than he found them. He loved hiking, gardening, working with his hands, and spending time outdoors, but above all else, he loved fishing. Whether teaching others what he knew, exploring woods, or simply spending quiet hours outside, he found peace and meaning in nature and shared that passion freely with those around him. Those closest to him knew him as someone who felt deeply and lived with conviction. His care for others, stubborn spirit, humor, and passion left a lasting impact on everyone who knew him.

Thomas is survived by his wife, Melissa Blommaert; his children, Kieran, Arik, Tori, and Anjali Vick; his grandson, Liam; his parents, Gayle Boddy and Tom Vick; and his siblings, Timothy Vick and Tracy Grassel.

Services honoring Tommy's life will be held on Thursday, May 14, 2026,  the visitation will be held from 2:00-2:45 PM,  followed by the funeral service at 3:00 PM  at Adams Funeral Home of Wilkes, 2109 Moravian Falls Rd, Moravian Falls, North Carolina 28654. A gathering at W. Kerr Scott Reservoir will follow the service to celebrate his life, share stories, and spend time together outdoors in a way that felt true to him.

Military Honors will be presented by North Carolina Honor Guard and Blue Ridge Mountain Post 1142.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in his memory to organizations that reflected the things he cared deeply about, including Take a Warrior Fishing and MMIW (Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women).

He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Speaker Arik Vick will be officiating.
