Thomas "Tom" Staufer Obituary

Thomas “Tom” Jospeh Staufer Jr., 77, of Ferguson, passed away on September 14, 2023 peacefully into the loving arms of his Lord and Savior. 

Born in South Chicago on December 3, 1945 to Thomas Joseph Staufer Sr and Norma Staufer.

Tom worked as a security guard for most of this life in his home town.  He enjoyed yard sales, flea markets and antique shops, he also enjoyed buying and reselling thing he found.  Tom married Judy and raised a family with 5 children.  Tom moved form Chicago to Boone in the early 2000s to be with his daughter, Pam, Tom lived in a beautiful apartment with his wife and granddaughter Kat.

He had many talents; however, his two favorite Pastimes were playing pool and golf. Tom was frequently at the driving range and practicing is golf strokes.  Tom made it a yearly tradition to visit Murphy’s Bar on King Street to pay pool with his family for his birthday. 

He was an avid Notre Dame Fan and enjoyed watching whenever possible.

He was exceptional husband, father and grandfather who cared deeply for his family. Tom was a member of Willow Creek Community Church in Barrington, Il until his move to North Carolina.  He was an outspoken believer in Christ and made a special effort to pray for everyone. 

Tom is preceded in death by his parents, wife, Judy Staufer and grandson, Christopher Miller.

Tom is survived by daughters, Pamela Renda and husband, Brian Renda, Susan “Sue” Dicristofano, Kristina Ward and son in law, Matthew Ward; sons, Thomas Staufer, Kenneth Staufer; grandchildren, Kaitlyn Staufer, Anthony Dicristofano, Michelle Tover and husband, David, Michael Piszczek, Karyn Staufer, Belinda Ward and husband, Candidio Deluna, Erica Chapman and husband, Trevor, Laci Ward; great grandchildren, Rylee Dicristofano , Anthony Ward, Kyle Ward, Eric Ward, Mia Lilly, Aria Chapman and Maverick Chapman.
