Vickie Sue Lackey, age 74, of Hiddenite, passed away on Wednesday, December 10, 2025, at Catawba Valley Medical Center.
Vickie was born May 21, 1951, in Buncombe County, the daughter of the late Sue Clayton Edwards and John Woodrow Edwards.
Vickie was a truck driver for most of her working career and attended Tabernacle Baptist Church in Stony Point. She loved to fish, ride the motorcycle, horseback riding, and camping. She also enjoyed cooking and had an unconditional love for her best fury friend, “Trump”.
Including her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Woody Edwards and Graham Edwards.
Those left to cherish and honor Vickie’s memories include: her husband, Byron Lackey of the home; her step-daughter, Ashlee Lackey Patterson (Nathan) of Taylorsville; her step-sons, Shaun Lackey (Kari) of Hiddenite, Wesley Lackey (Courtney) of Taylorsville, Kyle Lackey (Kendra) of Hiddenite; her grandchildren, Colt and Sage Lackey, Crew and Elle Lackey, Kyler, Kenden, and Konnor Lackey, Mason Childers, Laney Patterson, Emberlyn Patterson; her sister-in-law, Brenda Edwards; her nieces, Amy Herron, Woodeane Edwards; and a number of other family members and friends.
The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m., Saturday, December 13, 2025, at Tabernacle Baptist Church. A Celebration of Life Service will follow at 11 a.m. with Pastor Wes Hammer officiating.
