Virginia Ruth Whear Bowman, age 90, of Taylorsville, passed away quietly in her sleep on Saturday, June 1, 2024 at Catawba Valley Medical Center.
Virginia was born December 29, 1933, in Bulger, PA, the daughter of the late John Henry Whear and Julia Margarite Cagnon Whear.
Virginia was a US Navy veteran and was of the Lutheran faith. She was a West Alleghany High School National Honor Society member. She worked in textiles for most of her working career.
Virginia has played her last game of Scrabble, her favorite game. She was quite the fighter and competitor. She loved life, her family, and especially loved having a houseful of grandchildren. Her sense of humor and quick wit kept all of us on our toes. As she said, “I’ve still got it.” We will continue to repeat her one-liners as we remember her life.
Including her parents, she was preceded in death by: her husband, Bobby J. Bowman; her brothers, Alfred J. Whear, Jack Whear.
Those left to cherish and honor her memories include: her daughters, Jody Stafford, Julia Bowman (Carolyn); her sons, Jeff Bowman, Todd Bowman; her grandchildren, David Hedrick (Brandy), Corey Teague (Beth), Josh Teague; her great-grandchildren, Logan Hedrick, Payton Hedrick, Lucy Teague, Ethan Teague, Anthony Teague, Taelyn Teague; her great-great-grandchildren, Haven Brown, Preston Holland.
The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m., Wednesday, June 5, 2024 in the Adams Funeral Home Chapel. Pastor Eddie Jolly will officiate. Burial will follow in the Friendship Lutheran Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m., Tuesday, June 4, 2024 at Adams Funeral Home.
