Virginia "Ruth" (Pennington) Shepherd

Mrs. Virginia “Ruth” Pennington Shepherd, 75, of North Wilkesboro, passed away October 29, 2021 at Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist Wilkes Medical Center. 

Ruth was born on January 12, 1946 in Ashe County to Walter Glenn and Earsie Mae Pennington.

Ruth is preceded in death by her parents, Glenn and Earsie Pennington; husband, of 50 years, Elbert Shepherd; sisters, Candace Clyde Pennington and Mary Grace Sheets; brothers, Robert Lee Pennington, Walter Gwyn Pennington, Carl Edward Pennington and grandson, Darryl Cole Shepherd.

Ruth is survived by daughter, Judy Shepherd McMillan and husband, David of North Wilkesboro; son, Elbert Darryl Shepherd and wife, Teresa of Kannapolis, grandson, Christopher Brandon Oakley of North Wilkesboro; granddaughter, Brianna Danielle Oakley and fiancé, Brian Brewer of North Wilkesboro and great grandson Zakk Oakley; 4 great grand daughters, Arilya , Kaylee , Krystyna and Madison Oakley all of North Wilkesboro; brother, John Thomas Pennington of Mt. Pleasant. 

A visitation will be held on Wednesday, November 3, 2021 at 12 in the Adams Funeral Home of Wilkes Chapel in Moravian Falls.  A funeral will be held on Wednesday, November 3, 2021 at 1:00 p.m. at the Adam Funeral Home of Wilkes Chapel in Moravian Falls.   Rev. John Triplette will be officiating.  Burial will follow the funeral at Sentre Baptist Church Cemetery in Ashe County.
