Wayne Smith Sr. Obituary
Mr. Wayne W. Smith Sr., 85, of Elkin, formerly of Charlotte and Moravian Falls, passed away on Thursday, January 19, 2023 at The Woltz Hospice Home.
Wayne was born on September 22, 1937 in White Plains, Surry County to Irvin W. Smith and Nevada A. Hawks Smith.
He loved playing the guitar and was in both Country and Bluegrass bands. Wayne was an Army Veteran who enjoyed hunting and spending time with his family.
Wayne is preceded in death by his parents and three siblings.
Wayne is survived by his wife of 25 years, Thelma Jean Smith; daughter, Ashley Walton (Jeff); sons, Wayne Smith Jr. (Beth)., Logan Smith; sister, Faye Helen Nickels; 7 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.
The family will conduct a memorial service Saturday, January 28, 2023 at 2 p.m. at Island Ford Baptist Church in Jonesville. The family will receive friends 30 minutes prior to the service.
Dr. Charlie Kennedy will be officiating.
